This grip kit is for the Harrington and Richardson Model
949 revolver. Pay careful attention to what you order
because H&R did not always attach the same grips or use the
same grip frame shape and mounting method for the same
model number of gun!
First, see how your grips attach to the gun. If they use
two separate screws with an oval shaped head, which fit into
a beveled hole in the grip panels and screw into threaded
holes in the frame, you can use the original screws IF you
select that option above.
If the grips attach by means of one single screw that goes
through the frame and into a nut mounted in the opposite
grip panel, you can use the standard screw mount kit by
checking the option above.
Now, even if your grips attach with two factory screws
that thread into holes in the frame, it might be possible
to use a standard mounting kit instead: just look through
the hole in the frame and see if it is drilled all the way
through. If you can see daylight through the mounting
hole, then a number 4 screw kit would work just as well as
the two factory screws.
The advantage is (a) you can use an easily replaceable
4-40 screw instead of the hard-to-find factory screws, and
(b) it's easier to align the grips with they both use the
same mounting screw and attach to each other.
Here are the dimensions for this grip. Compare to your
gun. If your gun is larger, this grip won't work. If you
gun is the same or smaller, we have a winner!
- Width of front edge = 0.9 inches
- Overall height of grip = 3.3 inches
- Width across the base = 1.75 inches
- Width of top flat area = 0.4 inches
- Width across top neck at narrowest point = 1.1 inches
- Width across neck on average = 1.2 inches
- Height of screw hole center = 1.15 inches
- Width across screw hole center = 1.22 inches
- Rear edge to screw hole center = 0.5275 inches
