The American Arms Escort was imported in the mid 1990’s by American Arms, in North Kansas City. A very thin blowback model .380 developed in collaboration with the Italian manufacturer SITES. This pistol has no safeties. It weights 19 ounces, with an overall length of 6.125 inches. All stainless (matte finish), polygonal rifling, little more than .5" wide (thinnest .380 ever made), blowback operated, imported from Italy in the mid 1990s (only about 600 of them ever imported). It has a 7-round mag.
American Arms manufactures and imports firearms, including: standard shotguns and pistols; muzzleloading rifles; replica single-action and black powder revolvers; and, at one time, an assault pistol and two assault shotguns. Assault firearms imported by the company in the past as part of its "Security Series" included the SPAS-12 shotgun, LAW-12 shotgun, and SPECTRE pistol.
Importation eventually ceased as the result of application of the federal Gun Control Act's "sporting purposes" test to the weapons by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
