This is yet another slightly different size of grip for the
numerous Colt 1973 Single Action Army or Peacemaker clones,
very few of which are exactly the same size in the grip
frame as the original (but they LOOK the same until you
get out the calipers and start measuring).
It is a kit of two panels and a spacer, so you can make a
one-piece grip once they are fitted to your gun precisely
with a little edge sanding. Sand the spacer to the exact
width of the gun's frame, and epoxy glue it to the back
of one panel per instructions sent with the grip. Then
glue the other panel to the spacer, and you have a 1-piece
grip that fits your gun perfectly.
You can also order
this set with a screw mounting if you wish, and the
screw will be installed for you. However, unless you send
a pencil tracing on 3 x 5 index card of your existing
grips, or of the gun's grip frame, with the screw hole
location indicated, I can only mount the screw where the
original Colt 2nd generation model grips have it. I have no idea
if your clone has a different hole requirement due to the
placement of the mainspring unless you send a tracing
that either shows the hole location, or has an outline of
the grip plus the open space inside it, around the spring.
To make a good tracing for a one-piece style grip, first
remove the backstrap of the gun, and then remove the grip.
Replace the backstrap with out the grip. Now, push the
corner of a 3 x 5 index card into the top front corner of
the grip frame, hold it firmly, and trace around the
outside and the inside of the rest of the frame. Use a
sharp pencil and get the tracing as close to the frame as
you can.
If you make one tracing for each side of the frame, on
separate cards, then I can cut them out and use them as
two templates, which lets me cross check them for
differences in drawing tolerance and choose a grip that
will cover the widest part of them both.

If you do not send a tracing, then be SURE to check
these dimensions against your gun so you know the grip
is large enough before you order:
- Front edge length (A) = 1.07 inches
- Overall height (B) = 3.25 inches
- Width of base (C) = 2.3 inches
- Center of front edge to rear edge (D) = 1.8 inches
- Width of top edge (E) = 1 inch
- Thickness at the base = 0.56 inches
- Thickness near top = 0.365 inches
- Screw hole (if selected) located per your tracing
