This is a fairly standard 1911 full-size frame grip, but
it has the Taurus logo, is checkered, and has a notch for
the right-hand safety. You can easily file this notch
in any other 1911 grip, of course.
PLEASE NOTE: If you want a SMOOTH grip, order one of the
standard 1911 Smooth grips listed. I can't make this
particular one into anything other than what is shown, with
the factory checkering. But, use the NOTE on that
smooth Colt 1911 grip order page to tell me if you want
it for a Taurus with Ambidextrous safety, and I'll be glad
to make the relief cut on the right grip for you.
The Taurus 1911 uses the same grips as any other standard
1911 Colt clone, except for a small relief notch on the
upper rear edge and back of the right grip panel. You can
easily make this relief with a Dremel tool in a few minutes
with no problem, but I will do it for you if you ask for
it.
The center to center distance on the mounting screws is
about 3.05 inches. That tells you whether or not the
grip will fasten to your gun.
The overall height measured through the screw centerline
is 4.1 inches. The width through the top screw centerline
is 1.2 inches, and through the bottom screw centerline it
is 1.5 inches. Not all that different from any other
1911 grip, eh?
Note that you MAY have to do a tiny bit of enlargement on
the safety notch, depending on tolerances of your gun. This
is easy to do with a flat-end cylindrical bur in a rotary
hand tool, just take it easy and remove only a little at
a time, try, remove a little, try again, and get it right
without much effort. Trying to go too quickly is usually
the only reason for making a mistake in fitting grips.
