This brass eagle medallion is a replica of US Army uniform buttons of the era, made for Tombstone by the same producer of official military uniform hardware, but for our clients, we had them made with a flat back. These high quality metal medallions are mounted by making a shallow hole with a Forstner bit or a flat end mill, and using epoxy (2-part mix) clear adhesive to secure them. These detailed medallions have a fine-line background and are a good choice for guns of the 1920-1950 era. It is especially appropriate for the 1911 Colt and other handguns used in World War I and World War II.

For Civil War era revolvers, check the 1860 American Eagle medallion also listed, and built the same way as a replica military Civil War uniform button with a flat back for easier mounting.

This medallion is about 15cm in diameter and is too thick for thin grips like those used on the Rohrbaugh and Seecamp pocket pistols. You can still mount it, but it would project from the surface since the medallion is nearly as thick as some of these very thin grips. But in a 1911 grip or similar, or just about any revolver grip, it is just fine. The medallion is formed of two formed metal disks which are pressed together, exactly the same as military uniform buttons. They are manufactured in the USA, and are all metal, not cheap zinc die-cast or metallic coated plastic medallions from China!
