Available in natural or aged ivory, pearl or solid colors, the deeply carved Chinese Dragon grips lend an exotic touch of elegance to the familiar .45 Auto. It is made shorter at the top to clear the safety and slide lock, rather than being relieved to overlap it. It is also just slightly more narrow than some of the other 1911 grips listed here. The hole spacing is for the standard government specs on full sized pistols. I do not have a version of this for compact frame models. This grip is not available with medallions (it would look terrible!). Hole spacing is a standard 3.075 inches, with two 1/4-inch diameter stud recesses on the back and .280-diameter screw head recess on the front. Just finish sanding the back to your desired thickness, deepen the stud holes if necessary, lightly sand and polish the edges and radius cutouts, and use a spray wax finish on the carved side to preserve the finish against staining. The original grips from which the mold was created were said to have been hand carved by a Viet Nam veteran more than 20 years ago.
