Produced from 1895-1950 (first in Belgium, then in Russia), this
unusual gas-seal revolver fires the 7.62mm Nagant round. The
cylinder moves forward when the hammer is pulled back,
pushing the front of the chamber and the long-necked case
into the barrel for a gas seal. Modern replacement cylinders
are made for .32 ACP ammo, as well.
The Russian "Tula" arsenal began producing revolvers in
1898. The first production was from Leige by the Nagant
brothers and were single/double action design. Later,
Russian revolvers were primarily single action
only. After the 1917 Russian Revolution the Nagant was
once again made in single/double action.
This grip kit consists of three pieces. The left and right
grip panels screw onto the gun from the inside! Two screws
are provided, with brass nuts mounted in the grips. The
backstrap spacer is screwed to the separate left-grip plate
using the flat head screw that comes with the gun.
These grips are a copy of an original wood set with the
traditional Nagant "checkering" molded in. The checkering
marks are fairly shallow and could be sanded smooth if
desired. You may need to adjust the length of the grip
mounting screws, so they are left a little long. The example
shows a photo with Russian coins mounted as medallions,
and I have a limited number, not necessarily the same as
illustrated (all Soviet era, however). If you want a pair
mounted, contact me for availability and price (usually
in the $14-20 per pair, depending on what I have at the time).
