The High Standard 22 Magnum Derringer uses thin flat grips
with a very curved outline. You will need to use your existing
mounting hardware. The grips look especially nice in natural
ivory or a soft black, but can be striking in other colors.
Please note that these grips must be relieved on the back at one
small point, to clear the head of a screw. The screw head
also serves as a locator pin, to keep the grips aligned.
We can make the shallow hole with an end mill, but it might
not be precisely in the right location for your particular
gun as there can be some tolerance in the guns and screw
heads. If not, you can adjust the position with a Moto-tool
(Dremel or other brand of rotary hand tool) or fill in the
hole and recut it (fill with ordinary 5-minute epoxy mix).
The option to have the relief cut here is up to you. It
works fine about 90% of the time, but sometimes you need
to slightly enlarge one edge or fill the other and recut
so the grips are aligned exactly right.
The relief hole choice above is whether you want us
to make the hole, or if you would rather cut it yourself.
It isn't hard to do, but you need a small end mill bit or
a Moto-tool to make the flat-bottomed relief cut.
