This is a slotted fillister head screw in 5-40 thread, with 0.125 inch length (3/16). For grip purposes, this length is more often used as a projection or pin substitute, screwed into the back of the grip so the head is flush with the back surface. The screw head is positioned to match a similar size hole in the gun frame, to stabilize the grip. Using a short screw for a pin provides more strength and recoil resistance than the typical factory grip with a plastic pin molded on the grip back. Locating the hole position is easily done by holding the grip to the gun frame, and using a pencil to mark on the back of the grip.
