This is a very slightly larger version of the Young America (107H). You can order it and sand it down to fit if you wish, but I thought it would be easier to fit if I made a separate model. To the best of my knowledge the Young America used a 5-shot cylinder in .32 S&W, switching from blackpowder to a smokeless frame at the end of 1904. Then it was made with a 7 shot .22 Short/Long cylinder in a little smaller frame version as well as the .32 S&W in what was called the "medium" frame.
The Harrington and Richardson Yound American used a six shot cylinder in 32 S&W, a five shot cylinder for .38 S&W and also a five shot .44 Webley which was to compete with the British Bulldog revolvers and copies made in Belgium and elsewhere. The 32 and the .38 were made into the 1950s at least.
These simple pull-pin revolvers were double actions and very popular in their day.
In any case, be sure to send a tracing of your grips or your revolver frame (cut out the tracing to make a pattern and fit it to your gun the way you want the new grips to fit). If you do that with your order, I can make sure you ordered the right size and shape to match the tracing. If you didn't I can contact you and let you know so we can change the grip to one that will fit. If you send the tracing before you order, I can let you know which grip to order. Be sure to write your email address and either the order number, or a note "no order pending" so I know what's up. Tracings arrive all the time with no return address, no order number and no idea why I got them. If the envelope is damaged in the mail and I cannot read the return address, it just sits in a bin of unsolved mysteries until someone calls or emails to complain about not getting any response!
Or if you want to compare dimensions and rely on yourself to select the right grip for your gun, here are the dimensions:
- Width across the top (A) = .80 inches
- width across center (about half way up) = 1.0 inch
- Width across the base (C) = 1.0 inches
- Overall height (B) = 2.050 inches
- Front corner to base (E) = 1.50 inches
The base has a slight curve or downward projection at the middle, so that the 1.0 inch width actually as a small amount of area below it in the center.
Please note that Iver Johnson and some of the private label or hardware store branded revolvers of the 1880's to 1930's could also use these grips on certain models, primarily those which emulated the British Bulldog style solid frame style with the cylinder held to the frame with a removable pin (not swing out or break top actions in most cases). So if you are having trouble finding a grip for one of those guns, compare measurements and see if this will work even though it is primarily for a different make and model.
