This is a set of Bisley Colt style grips made for one of
the examples of a clone imported by EMF, probably made by
Pietta.
This illustration shows the "white pearl" effect, which
is an option on the above drop-down menu choices. The
default is natural ivory (base price).
As with nearly every clone or replica or "similar-to"
version of nearly any Colt revolver, if you don't send a
tracing, it's impossible to guess if your gun has the same
curves, widths and heights of grip as the one shown. You
can check the measurements and probably tell from that. But
if you make a good tracing, as described elsewhere on this
website, and send it with the order number written on it,
your odds of getting a grip that actually fits your gun go
up by a huge factor.
This grip can be provided as a 1-piece kit with a spacer
that you glue to the backside after fitting to your gun,
or it can be provided as a 2-piece set of panels with the
mounting screw kit, as you wish. Default is the screw kit.
I install that for you. You don't have to buy it separately
or pay anything for installation. If you order the 1-piece
kit, then I'll send you a spacer and also send the screw
kit but not put any holes in the grips. You can do that
if you change your mind after you get the grips. I send
instructions with the screw kit.
Please note that if you send a tracing AND mark the screw
hole location, then I can match it exactly. If you do not
send a tracing, all I can do is use the hole location which
happened to be right for the one gun these grips were
created to fit originally, the model or sample. If that
happens to be right for your example of the same gun,
good for you. If your gun has the hammer spring located
slightly off from the one I used, well, you should have
sent a tracing showing me where to put the screw holes!
I wish every manufacturer would always use precisely the
same grip frame shape, size, and hole location on every gun they make
for the same model number. Too bad they don't. They tend
to make little changes and not change the model number. Fortunately,
a postage stamp and a couple of 3 x 5 index cards with a
pencil outline of your existing grips or the grip frame
will solve that problem.
But if you want to pre-check the size, here it is:
- Front edge (straight part) = 1.1 inches
- Flat at the top = 0.7 inches
- Distance from middle of straight part of front to rear edge = 1.95 inches
- Overall heigth of the grip = 3.7 inches
- Height of the round notch (from top to start of straight front edge) = 0.4 inches
- Width across narrow "neck" of the grip = 1.2 inches
- Width across the bottom of the grip = 2.1 inches
- Thickness of the grip when you get it = about 0.4 inches
You can adjust thickness by sanding against a flat board with
a piece of 220 grit abrasive paper wrapped around it. The edges
can be shaped a little to fit your gun with a standard
fingernail sanding board available at cosmetic counters.
