This grip fits the Sterling Arms M302. It is secured with
the original grip screws that come on your gun.
Instead of the skeletonized back with projecting studs
which fit against the inside of the cut-outs in the
gun's frame, to keep the grip from turning, this kit comes
with two thin, flat spacers. You secure these to the
back of the grips with epoxy glue, so the edge of the
spacer bears against the grip frame cut-out edge. Then,
after the epoxy has cured, you sand the spacers by rubbing
against a piece of sandpaper stretched on a flat board to
make them the same or slightly less thickess than the
gun frame, so that the magazine won't drag against them.
For dimensions, see Sterling factory grip 76c.
The smooth grip looks much nicer with medallions and
pearl effects (less "busy" than the factory molded
surface). The factory grip looks best in solid colors.
Both grips come with flat backs. You will need to relieve
the top area on the left grip for clearance of the safety
and trigger bar assembly, a depth of about 0.053 inches.
this is easily done with a Dremel tool and a flat-ended
bit. A "Magic Marker" pen can be used to paint the high
points of the mechanism, so when you try the grip against
the gun, the ink makes a mark on the grip back in the
places that require relief.
